If a Pinner is looking for something, they will type that term into the search bar. Pinterest keeps track of the search volume for different search terms at different times of the year. As Pinterest Managers, we love that they do this!
Pinterest shares this information via Pinterest Trends by rating a search term from 0 – 100 over the course of a year. This can be helpful when determining when Pinners will be looking for certain keywords. It can also help you figure out when to include specific topics or ideas in your content plan.
You can also compare different keywords to see which one has a higher search volume. This can be helpful when trying to decide if you want to use “Fall Home Decor” or “Fall Decor Ideas for the Home” as your main keyword in a blog post or Pin title. At first glance, you may think this wouldn’t make a difference, but check out the chart below to see how important this step is!
Big seasonal changes at Pinterest mean an uptick in new searches. Though we’re still in August, Pinterest users are already thinking about Fall shopping, fall decor, fall fashion, and of course fall recipes. Typically, engagement slows on Pinterest during the summer but it tends to pick up for most niches in late August to early September. That’s why right now is the perfect time to start planning for your Fall boards.
